Mobile Application

Mobile Application

Your business phone, anywhere you work

📱 A Cloud PBX mobile application is an app that replaces your phone's native dialer for business calls. Instead of using your SIM card and the mobile network, it connects to your company's phone system over the internet. You make and receive calls using your office number, on the same smartphone you already carry.

How It Works

💡 In short: the app looks like a normal dialer, but it uses the internet and shows your business number instead of your personal one.

1️⃣ You tap a number

Dial a number like you always would. The interface mirrors your usual phone dialer.

2️⃣ App connects over internet

The call travels over Wi-Fi, 4G, or 5G using VoIP. No SIM card or mobile signal needed.

3️⃣ Business number shows up

The person you call sees your office number. Your private mobile number stays private.

4️⃣ Every device can ring

Desk phone, laptop, and mobile ring at once. Answer on whichever device is closest.
📲 What you can do from the app: answer on any device, transfer calls to colleagues, access the company directory, set availability status, and listen to voicemail.

Types of Mobile App

Cloud PBX mobile apps come in several forms. The right one depends on your provider, your devices, and how your team works.

📱 Native mobile apps

Built for iOS and Android. Reliable push, native contacts, and best battery life.

💻 Native desktop apps

Built for Windows and macOS. Click-to-call from any app with full headset support.

🌐 Web-based apps

Run inside a browser tab using WebRTC. No install needed and ideal for shared PCs.

🔌 Third-party SIP softphones

Independent apps like Linphone, Zoiper, or Bria for self-hosted PBX systems.

The Most Widely Used Softphone Options

If your Cloud PBX provider does not supply its own mobile app, or if you run a self-hosted system such as Asterisk, FreePBX, or FreeSWITCH, an independent SIP softphone will connect to any SIP-compatible phone system. Voxbi is the first choice for users of Mixvoip Cloud PBX. The remaining options work across any SIP-compatible system.

What to Look For

🎯 Call quality on mobile data

Test the app on 4G and 5G, not only Wi-Fi. Poor codecs degrade quality in the field. Ask about Opus codec support.

🔋 Battery and background use

Some apps drain the battery or miss calls in the background. Check user reviews for your iOS or Android device.

⚖️ Feature parity across devices

Confirm that transfer, hold, conference, and voicemail all work in the app, not just on the desk phone.

📦 Native app or third-party app

Most providers ship their own app. A third-party SIP softphone connects to any SIP-compatible system.

Frequently Asked Questions

❓ How is the mobile app different from using my regular phone?
Your regular phone uses a SIM card and the mobile network. The Cloud PBX mobile app uses your internet connection instead. It feels the same: you dial and speak. But the app shows your business number, lets you transfer calls to colleagues, and keeps you connected to the company phone system wherever you are.
❓ Can I use the mobile app and my desk phone at the same time?
Yes. Both can ring simultaneously when your number is called. This is called simultaneous ring or "find me" behaviour. You answer on whichever picks up first, and the other stops ringing. You configure which devices ring together from the dashboard.
❓ Will callers see my personal mobile number when I call from the app?
No. When you call from the Cloud PBX mobile app, the recipient sees your business number. Your personal mobile is not disclosed. This applies on Wi-Fi and on mobile data.
❓ Does the mobile app work abroad?
Yes, as long as you have an internet connection. It uses VoIP, so any Wi-Fi or mobile data connection works, including when travelling inside or outside the EU. Roaming charges do not apply to the call itself, though your mobile data plan may apply if you are not on Wi-Fi.
❓ Is the mobile app free, or does it cost extra?
It depends on the provider. Some include mobile app access in the standard licence. Others charge a small monthly add-on per user. Always check whether mobile app access is included before signing a contract.
❓ What happens if I lose or change my phone?
Your number and settings are managed centrally by the Cloud PBX, not stored on the device. Install the app on a new phone, log in, and everything is restored immediately. No number porting or SIM transfer is needed.
